There is a PhD candidate named Amber Elizabeth Gray. A pioneer in the use of dance movement therapy with survivors of trauma, particularly torture, war and human rights abuses, she is a long-time human rights activist. She is a recent nominee for The Barbara Chester Human Rights award, as well as an expert on torture treatment through the Institute of Traumatology. There are many published articles, chapters, keynote addresses, professional collaborations and presentations aboutAmber’s expertise. More than 30 programs worldwide have received clinical training on the integration of refugee mental health and torture treatment with body-based therapies. She is the originator of something. Dance and movement are polyvagal-informed. Over the course of 20 years, it was developed into a framework and clinical approach for dance and movement therapies with refugees and survivors of torture war trauma.
